Malibu Popoyo is an all-inclusive, boutique surf resort and yoga retreat located in Popoyo, Nicaragua that caters to surfers, yoga enthusiasts and adventure travelers. The resort opened its doors on December 1, 2018 as an homage to California’s legendary surf breaks while showcasing Nicaragua's rich cultural roots.

The eco-friendly beachfront property offers 12 tranquil guest suites featuring native artwork and warm natural woods, all set to a backdrop of lush gardens and more than 10 world-class neighboring surf breaks. Malibu Popoyo’s sister property La Quinta is a sustainable farm that produces fresh, organic fruit for resort guests and the surrounding community. Its orchard yields thousands of limes and eight varieties of mangos, as well as dragon fruit, oranges and coconuts.

With more than 10 world-class breaks within 30 miles, our priority is surf. We offer something for everyone with waves ranging from longboard peelers and beach breaks to deep and hollow reef breaks, waves suitable for the novice to the pro, no experience necessary.

Surf highlights for Malibu Popoyo guests include:

• Colorados: Possibly the best barreling wave in the Americas with consistent, fast, hollow waves and no paddle out.

• Popoyo: Site of the 2015 ISA World Surfing Championship. A fun and challenging A-frame reef break. When it gets big, the Outer Reef works – and it is a sight to behold.

• Magnific Rock: One of the area’s more picturesque breaks, especially at sunset. This longboard peeler breaks on shale rock formations and goes left; at different tides, the middle works also. Easy and beginner friendly.

• Playa Santana: Walk out and surf. Just steps from Malibu Popoyo, Playa Santana is fast and fun with various peaks to choose from, offering a wave for everyone.

Malibu Popoyo is located in the heart of Popoyo on Nicaragua's Pacific Coast in the region known as Costa Esmeralda, renowned as one of the best surf locales in the world. The beachfront resort offers access to more than 10 untapped, world-class surf breaks within a complimentary 30-minute drive.

Travelers enjoy convenient access via air and ground transportation, with direct flights into Costa Rica's Liberia International Airport, an easy two-hour car ride to Malibu Popoyo. Airport transfers are included in your package.

• SHUTTLE SERVICE TO/FROM LIBERIA AIRPORT (Please note: You’ll want to fly into LIBERIA Airport only; not Managua) **a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival to Nicaragua will be needed to enter Nicaragua from Costa Rica.
